About Me

I'm Sarah Tymochko, a postdoc in mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Before coming to UCLA, I earned my Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics, Science, and Engineering from Michigan State University. My research focuses on applied mathematics, including topological data analysis and dynamics on networks, with applications to social and biological systems. I love involving undergraduate students in research and showing how math connects to real-world problems.

I love teaching and especially enjoy introducing students to applied math and helping them discover how it can be used across diverse domains.

Outside of math, I enjoy spending time with my pandemic puppy, Bella (see picture!), binge-watching Netflix, and listening to Taylor Swift (yes, I'm a Swiftie). I also love traveling and have a goal to visit all 50 states—I’ve made it to about 35 so far.
